Dr Robert Hogg for The Gap

Dr Robert Hogg has lived in The Gap ward for ten years. He is 48 and lives in Ashgrove with his partner Lynda. Robert has a keen interest in seeing that the suburbs of the ward maintain their green leafy character, their open spaces and iconic homes.

He is an academic historian who has taught at the University of Queensland and Griffith University. Prior to embarking on an academic career he worked in the Commonwealth Public service for seventeen years, occupying a number of managerial positions and gaining an MBA along the way.

A keen cyclist and a long time user of public transport, Robert believes that it is essential that alternatives to Brisbane’s reliance on roads and private transport, such as a light rail network, must be found if the city is to prosper in the 21st century.  Anyone who has suffered the congestion of Waterworks Road since the completion of road works in 2006 knows that more and bigger roads will not solve Brisbane’s transport problems.

Robert has lived in Brisbane all his life and has seen it expand and change. He believes that the Greens can moderate the policies of the Liberals and ALP, ensuring that the city and The Gap ward remain attractive and desirable environments.

5 Reasons to Vote for Robert Hogg

  1. To give The Gap residents a seat back on buses. Robert Hogg will work to put more buses on the road for Gap residents.

  2. I will be an articulate and conscientious representative of the interests of the ward’s residents.
  3. I will oppose any development which threatens The Gap’s lifestyle and amenity.
  4. I will work to preserve those things which make The Gap a desirable place to live – its' parks and recreation facilities, its' leafy streets.
  5. I will oppose the upgrade of Gap Creek Road. The result of this upgrade will be unacceptably high levels of traffic along Payne Rd and Illowra St and ultimately on to Waterworks Road.
