Stuart Skabo has announced that he will once again run for the ward of Toowong in this year's Brisbane City Council elections after receiving 20% of the primary vote in the 2004 election.
"I
look forward to helping create a clean and prosperous future for
Australia's greatest city, Brisbane," said Mr Skabo.
"This time we look forward to not only improving on our already substantial support but also to winning the ward for the Greens and the people of Toowong."
"While our state and national
governments fight about how little they can get away with doing to
ensure our future, I can see that there is a great opportunity for
local government to step in and take action. Climate change, the
economy and resource security are all global issues, but global
issues with largely local solutions."

See the ECQ site for more details.
I have been a campaigner almost all my adult life and have blended my communitarian philosophy and outlook with a commitment to universal values such as human rights and environmental justice.
At the same time as I was a high school teacher and then a college lecturer in the sixties, seventies and early eighties I was also involved in the anti-Vietnam War campaign, campaigns against uranium mining and for nuclear disarmament and support for Indigenous land rights struggles. I was a teacher educator in the seventies and eighties and influenced the content of social science curricula and championed peace and environmental education in schools as well as more democratic school environments and teaching practices.
