Event: Rally against the Hale Street Bridge

11 a.m., Sunday 17 February
Northern end of Riverside Drive (near the rail bridge)

Dear Supporters
The decision by both Labor and Liberal members of the Brisbane City Council to approve the Hale Street Link represents a failure of vision for the city, a threat to the village atmosphere of the West End area and traffic flow in the Toowong ward.

The Greens have been saying for the last two years that the Council and State Government should be abandoning car bridges and tunnels and putting some of those billions of dollars into investment in public transport, cycling and pedestrian corridors to achieve major modal shifts in transport from the private motor vehicle to other forms that are not so disruptive of community life and threatening to human health.

The Greens have put out a visionary plan for a city-wide light rail system, massive expansion and upgrading of the bus system and enacting a city-wide revolution in a cycling system for Brisbane within one four-year term of the Council.

Please come along to the rally on Sunday and show your support for the Greens transport alternatives and your opposition to the Hale Street Link and all other TransApex proposals.

Thanks!

Stuart Skabo, candidate for Toowong, Drew Hutton, candidate for The Gabba, and Jo Bragg, Lord Mayoral candidate -
