Anne
Boccabella is your hard working local candidate for the Brisbane Council ward of
Central. She is a long time champion for her local community, delivering
on-ground results. But she is also a successful business-woman for over 30
years. Her passion is limitless, her ability to deliver is
proven.
"I understand the local issues - issues such
as:
- the erosion of quality public space despite increasing demands from a growing population.
- the desire to build a city that nurtures and encourages our children and our own needs to socialise, to play and to be well. We do not want to threaten our kids with "LOOK OUT - A CAR!", rather, if we could choose how we build our city, we would create spaces where we can let them play and hang out with friends without the need for 'Mum's taxi' service;
- housing affordability, and the need to better integrate housing of all types and for all needs into the existing urban fabric; and
- traffic. Need more be said...It is time to redress the vicious cycle of road construction simply to cater for increasing numbers and speed of cars. It is time to look at what we want for our city. It is time to rethink the stone age road engineer mentality.
Only the Greens
have the solutions, only the Greens have the vision to prepare our city for the
impacts of higher energy costs, climate change and increasingly
denser urbanisation. I have a proven track record of delivering
results for my local community - and I will deliver results for the Central
ward. But I will remain accountable and will continue to listen and to
actively seek the views of our community. On 15th March 2008, lets put an
end to factional politics in Local Government. Let's end the blame game,
the finger pointing and the imbalances. Let's pull together to bring about
a new era of representative, local democracy that will deliver more than just
rhetoric and spin. It is as easy as AB4C - Anne Boccabella for
Central."
