ALP crying crocodile tears over Hale Street Bridge

The ALP has been crying crocodile tears over the Hale Street Bridge construction. Residents of Indooroopilly and surrounding suburbs recently received two flyers in the mail deriding the Liberals' plans for the construction process. One from Ryan Ginard, ALP candidate for Walter Taylor and the other from local state member for Indooroopilly Ronan Lee.

These flyers point to hour long delays for commuters travelling along Coronation Drive from Toowong. These delays will stretch down Moggill Road and affect residents in Walter Taylor suburbs such as Chapel Hill, St Lucia, Indooroopilly and Taringa. There is no doubt that this could be the case if construction of the Hale Street Bridge proceeds. What these flyers fail to mention to residents is the complicity of the ALP in this potential traffic chaos!

Greens candidate for Walter Taylor Daniel Crute believes it is the height of hypocrisy for the ALP to attempt to take the moral high ground on this issue. "Both Liberal and Labor voted for the Hale Street Bridge to go ahead. Campbell Newman may be the mayor of Brisbane but it was an ALP controlled Council that decided this project was worthy of construction. For them to turn around and blame the project's faults on the Liberals is complete hypocrisy. They are both equally to blame."

If elected to Walter Taylor Daniel Crute promises to work hard to improve public transport for the area and beyond. The Greens plans for Walter Taylor include light rail (click here for related article). Diverting money from wasteful and costly projects into public transport is the only way to prevent traffic chaos in Brisbane's west.
